December Substitution Schedule
In general substitute instructors will maintain the same physical intensity level of the class for which they're subbing - even though the exact style may vary.
All classes can be attended on a drop-in basis, no registration required.
Align & Flow Yoga - A blend of alignment, attention to breath, & flow. Level 1: Introduces foundational poses & is appropriate for beginning & ongoing students. Level 1-2: More challenging poses & alignment technique are introduced in a flowing sequence. Level 2-3: Introduces intermediate poses in a more vigorous flowing sequence.
Back to Basics - Similar to the Align & Flow classes, Back to Basics will emphasize foundational postures and alignment cues, but each class will also include a practice in Pranayama - breathing exercises - & a short meditation. Appropriate for beginning & ongoing students.
Iyengar Yoga - Iyengar Yoga is a progressive practice that creates a body of knowledge and builds upon itself from across classes & levels. Learn to practice safely with the use of props, specific sequencing, & a focus on correct alignment. Level 1: Foundational poses are taught for new students & those new to the Iyengar method. Level 2: Inversions & a selection of more challenging poses are taught.
Prenatal Yoga - Connect with your changing body & to your baby as you build strength, focus, & flexibility with carefully aligned poses. In a calm environment, find a supportive community with other moms-to-be
Release & Renew Yoga - A skillful blend of restorative yoga, meditation, & life-affirming philosophy. Integrating meditation, relaxation, & precisely aligned, supported yoga poses, helps to release the deepest tensions in your spine & body. Appropriate for all levels.
Yin Yoga - Uses time and gravity to deeply release tension in the body's connective tissues through soft, slow, explorative movement. Postures, supported by props, are held for several minutes. Each Yin posture feels like a short meditation, & the practice leaves the practitioner feeling rejuvenated. Appropriate for all levels of students.
Meditation - A non-Buddhist guided meditation for all levels that focuses on applying breathing techniques to de-stress, cleansing techniques to clear negative energy, and journaling to gain insight.
Qoya (exclusively for women) - Qoya is a dance/movement class based on the idea that through movement we remember our essence as wild, wise, & free. Classes consist of dance, yoga & sensual movement that aim to help dancers feel good in their bodies and to tap into their body's inner wisdom. Qoya is for women of all ages, body types, & levels of dance experience.
$7 Release & Renew Yoga (cash only please) - One hour of restorative yoga, meditation, and relaxation. A great option for beginners or anyone looking to take an hour out of your day to deeply relax. Unlimited & New Student Passes may be used to attend this class.
$7 Gentle (cash only please) - A one hour practice intended to strengthen & stretch the whole body using carefully aligned poses & the support of props. This class is particularly well-suited for beginners, seniors, pregnant woman, or anyone with physical limitations. Unlimited & New Student Passes may be used to attend this class.
$7 Flow (cash only please) - A one hour, well-rounded practice to strengthen & stretch the whole body in a steady flowing sequence. This class is not appropriate for students with injuries. Unlimited & New Student Passes may be used to attend this class.
$7 Power Flow (cash only please) - A one hour, invigorating class, which has creative variations on the signature Baptiste “Journey into Power” sequence. Recharge your mind, stimulate your body, & reach toward your highest level of physical awareness. This class is not appropriate for students with injuries. Unlimited & New Student Passes may be used to attend this class.
AcroYoga Play - Playful introduction to AcroYoga foundations and therapeutics. Work will focus on core-strength and stability, building proficiency with basic postures, and partner work. No partner necessary. No previous experience expected. Requires physical strength & kinesthetic awareness. Please contact Jason@BinghamtonYoga.com before attending this class. This is a "donation-based" class - so pay what you can IF you can.
