Hey everyone! I have been thinking about this for a while now and I don't know if I have a favorite pose, per se. I love how a good vinyasa makes me feel but I am not sure if I can break it down. I know that Uttanasana (Standing Forward Bend) is where I always start and its my go-to first thing in the morning because it "wakes up" my spine and it feels sooo good. I highly recommend it - I just get up and gently fold forward, sometimes supporting myself with my elbows on my knees and I let gravity do the work. I stay there as long as I need to. My favorite prop is the strap. It allows me to get deeper into poses and allows me to focus more on the pose and breathing rather than struggling to reach. Its a simple, useful tool and I it has assisted me in getting deeper into poses. My go-to practice has always been lifting. I have lifted weights in the gym since my late 20's. It used to be my happy place but as I have gotten older, it has lost that shine. I have two anxiety issues I struggle with and physical exercise has always been my saving grace. Yoga has provided something that lifting didnt and that is a internal reflection on more than just the physical - it has helped to calm my constant mental chatter.
